Does it take a while for you to think up designs or do they just kinda come to you?
I never pressure myself into making my designs. They’re all usually at random or when I feel like creating something.
Who does your product shoots?
I actually do my own photography which is a lot harder than it sounds. I usually set a timer to do it.
Do you have a favorite local designer? Who is your idol?
I don’t know of any local designers but if I had to pick someone, it would probably be Ralph Lauren. But, like I said I try not to look too much at certain designers because I want my pieces to be created by my experiences.
Do you ever sell your stuff at pop-ups?
Yes, one time I did my own. I was in Copenhagen because Denmark is 50% of my fan base. It was great to do a pop up in Europe as my first pop up. I’ll be doing another one there in August.
Is there a visual artist that you’d like to collab with?
That’s a hard question but it would probably be Kaws. I’d love to make a cloud dude sculpture with him.
Where do you source the fabric for your clothes from?
I don’t ever source fabric because I don’t physically cut and sew my pieces. All of my products are usually made in China, Pakistan, or custom made here in the USA.
What is the biggest rookie mistake you made when just starting out?
You have to act like no one is going to buy your stuff- almost as if you’re making it for the sole purpose of yourself and people will appreciate that way more. You also save so much money versus expecting X amount of people to buy your stuff.
What was your biggest fear when going out and starting your own line?
I really don’t have a fear. I have failed so many times and have been ridiculed so many times in my life for going my own way but I’ve seen the payoff. If you can self-check yourself and make sure you are really looking at your work and understanding the pros and cons, there’s no reason to be scared.
